Bark + Dryad

Walking through the Forest this morning came across these three...

The two outside ones are pretty obvious but the middle one is quite rare in the forest - the bark gives it away - any ideas?

A rare sight indeed is to spot a tree spirit actually in the act of emerging from its Winter hibernation!

Rare indeed, one often feels them but rarely sees them!

Hi Robin,

The twisted bark looks like sweet chestnut to me at first sight - but no doubt I've dived in with both feet instead of stopping and thinking!

Right first time Mark - that twist in the bark really gives it away.

Fabulous trees Robin, I meant to say before that the hibernating tree spirit photo is really special - nice one.

Hurumph! Not just the blummin bark in my experience either. Bought two butts (cheap fortunately) from t'estate and they are both twisted grain. Never mind, just makes more of a challenge eh? And I have a milled job for 'em already repairing a cheap bench that had mean thin situpon boards.
